Facility location editor

Specify where your various facilities are located in the Facility location editor.
This is activated using the Location option next to the facility Description field in the Facilities tab in Facilities and Subhirables.
Users must have 'Manage facility location' permission to access the editor.
The Facility locator is available in various modules and is activated using the icon.
Save changes. Select this option to commit all changes made in the Facility location editor.
If another user Saves changes, you will lose all your changes and the view will refresh.
The same applies to setting of the default Label Properties (see below).
It is recommended that the Administrator grants permission to as few users as possible, preferably one in addition to him/herself.
If a system terminate instruction is received you will lose any unsaved changes therefore use the Save changes option regularly.

Change background. If you have permission, browse for an image file to use as the background image.
Formats supported include BMP; GIF; JPG; PAM; PCX; PNG; PNM; TGA; TIF.
These images may include for e.g. a floor plan, aerial photograph, a Google Map screenshot or a Google Earth screenshot etc. (See Google Earth below).
If you are updating the background image, be aware that existing locations may become displaced.
If a replacement background image is smaller than the existing, any facilities located outside of the boundary of the new image will automatically move to the closest edge.
A label and pin is automatically created for the facility you had selected in the main form. To prevent this from happening, ensure a facility is not selected in the main form before clicking this option.
If a background image has not been specified, the facility label and pin is not automatically created.
Add further facility location pins and labels by selecting the applicable facility in the main form and then selecting the Location option alongside the Description field.
Drag the pin(or label) to where the facility is located on the background image.

Note: Even though the background image is scaled to fit within the chosen orientation of standard A4 papersize, always be mindful of the size/proportions of the background image and the Label Properties you apply.
A large background image will result in smaller printed font sizes when the image is scaled for printing purposes.
Any additional detail required on the map can be added with the use of an image editor such as Paint.
The image you select as the background is ultimately saved as a copy onto the server as a jpg file.

Google Earth. This option is only available on desktop instances.
Chrome is required for this feature to work. Download chrome from https://www.google.com/chrome/.
Select the Google Earth option to open your location in Google Earth.
You will be prompted for your Organisation name and Address line 1 as the Google Earth search string. Modify it if necessary.
Google Earth will attempt to locate your organisation as well as set the browser tab to full screen mode. If Chrome does not appear in full screen mode, press F11.
Zoom in and move around until you are satisfied with the aerial view in Google Earth.
Use the provided screenshot tool that will appear in the top left corner of the screen and select the icon.
The image will be applied in the Location editor.
You may take a screenshot of anything you wish, bearing in mind the entire screen is captured.
Exiting the screenshot tool or taking a screenshot will bring the location editor back into view.

Alternatively, take a manual screenshot (Alt + Print Screen [PrScr] on Windows or the screenshot key sequence on your mobile device).
In Windows, paste the image into an image editor of your choice or use Paint (Start...[Search box]...Paint).
Crop the image, add any additional detail you may require (e.g. landmarks, compass direction etc.) and save it in one of these formats: BMP; GIF; JPG; PAM; PCX; PNG; PNM; TGA; TIF.
Use the Change background option and browse for the image you just saved.

To Crop image, hold down Shift whilst dragging over the image to select the desired region you wish to retain. The dotted selection box will be visible when you release the mouse.
Use the [Arrow] keys whilst holding the left mouse button down to scroll to other regions of the background image then press the [Shift] key before releasing the mouse button.
This will allow you to select a region larger than the visible region on screen. The initial mouse down point is the anchor.

Select the Crop image option. Facilities that remain within the boundary of the cropped image are automatically repositioned.
Any facilities located outside of the boundary of the cropped image will automatically move to the closest edge.
Click anywhere on the background image to hide the selection box.

Remove facility/ies. Select a facility label (or Pin) on the image to activate it or drag around a group of labels/pins for a multiple selection (active labels' text is underlined).
Removing facilities will only remove them from the view. The facilities are NOT removed from the facilities list in the main form.

Managing labels (Select the Labels option)
Font. Click the box alongside and select the font name, size and if required and available, Bold and/or Italicsed.
Font sizes are restricted from 8 to 24.

Fore colour. Click the box alongside and select a suitable colour for the label text.

Fill colour. This is the colour of the label background. Click the box alongside and select a suitable colour that will contrast with the Fore colour.
If you wish to make the labels transparent, select the option. The grey and white checker board indicates a transparent background.

An indication of how the label will appear is represented in the 'Sample' box.

Click the option to save the Label Properties as default. This will apply to all users.
Click the option to load the saved Label Properties.

All newly added facility labels inherit the default (saved) Label Properties.
Clicking on an existing label changes the Label Properties to correspond with the selected label but does not impact on the saved Label Properties.
The Label Properties do not mirror any of the labels in a multiple selection.

Apply to selected facility label/s. This option will apply the current Label Properties to the active label selection (active labels' text is underlined).

Apply to all facility labels. This option will apply the current Label Properties to all visible facility labels irrespective of the active selection.

Pins (Select the Pins option)
Select a pin from the Description field.
The pin Image will show up alongside the Image descriptor.
Apply pin to selected facility/ies. The pin image is applied to the active label selection (active labels' text is underlined).

If you have permission, you can manage the Pin library.
To change the pin image, click on the existing pin image and browse for a 32x32 image file.
Supported formats include BMP; CUR/ANI; GIF; JPG; ICO; PAM; PCX; PNG; PNM; TGA; TIF
You can download packs from the website at www.itechsupport.org/downloads.html.

Add pin to library. Enter a unique 10 character description in the Description field and then select the Add pin to library option to create the new pin. Invalid filename characters will be rejected.

Update pin. This option allows you to change the pin image assigned to a pin. As above, click on the existing pin Image and browse for a 32x32 image file and then Update pin to commit the change.

Change description. Select this option and enter a new, unique 10 character long description at the prompt. Invalid filename characters will be rejected.

Remove pin. If the selected pin has not been assigned to any facilities, it can be removed. The (Default) pin cannot be removed.

Positioning of labels/pins
Click on a label or pin to activate it (the active label's text is underlined).
Drag the label or pin to its required position. Only one label can be dragged at a time.
Labels can overlap. To activate a label that lies beneath another label, you will have to move the top label out of the way and then move it back once you've moved the underlying label to its required location.
Labels dragged outside of the background image are automatically repositioned on the boundary of the background image.
All new labels are initially placed in the top left hand corner of the background image.

To abort repositioning (whilst still holding the left mouse button during drag), press the [Esc] key.

Whilst NOT in the pin Description field, the following shortcut keys are available:-

Notes
Facilities that are tagged as hirable will only appear in the Facility locator in the Bookings module.
Its advisable to indicate hirable facilities with a different pin and/or Label Properties to separate them from non hirable facilities.
All active (Non deleted) facilities will appear in the Facility locator in the Maintenance and projects module.
Subhirables cannot be placed on the Facility locator.
You cannot close the Facilites and Subhirables module if the Facility location editor is open.
